Where I Am Not follows, in parallel, two young people living at opposite ends of the world — one in Madagascar, the other in Belgium. Their daily lives appear radically different — warmth and color versus cold and mist — yet they share the same quiet feeling of longing, each convinced that life is more beautiful somewhere else. Through intimate moments and carefully observed details, the film offers a poetic and visual journey into the way we look at the world around us, inviting the audience to question where beauty truly lives.

biography

I am Ranto Rambeloson, a Malagasy photographer and filmmaker exploring emotion and everyday poetry through images. I co-directed this film with Inès Urbain to share my love for cinema and create stories that connect cultures beyond borders.
