UNSEEN | A Short Film by Syed Sahil | Nikon Film Festival

Olivia, a woman marked by a long-past accident, lives withdrawn, hiding her face beneath a cap and heavy silence. One ordinary morning, she meets John, a solitary artist who sees in her a deep beauty no one dares to notice. Fascinated, he follows her to the park and gives her a drawing: a radiant portrait of herself. Back home, Olivia compares the image to her scarred reflection and realizes that between the two lies a space where hope can grow. As a tear falls on the drawing, she understands that beauty has never depended on her skin, but on the way she looks at herself.

biography

I am a director exploring identity, scars, and the invisible beauty we overlook. Through Olivia’s story, I question how trauma shapes our self-image and how a single gaze can restore hope, proving beauty is born from perception, not appearance.
